Egypt Egypt is one of the oldest countries in the world. Egyptians were famous for how long they ruled. They were not defeated by other countries for a many years. Egypt today has a Autocratic ruler which is someone who rules by themselves. The language in Egypt is Egyptian Arabic. The Christians in Egypt are called cops. The most popular sport in Egypt is soccer. Meat is rare in this country because they don't have a lot of arable land because most people can only live along the river because the rest of the land is desert and nothing grows there. So 99% of the people live on just 5% of the people along the nile river.
Official name: The United Mexican States History is similar to Egyptians and were undefeated for a long time until they were defeated by Spain. The Spanish brought over smallpox with them and wiped out a lot of the Mexican population. Because of this epidemic the Mexicans converted to the spanish god because they thought that the spanish god punished them by giving them the small pox so they thought that god must be way more powerful than theirs so they converted. That is why most people today follow spanish religion. In 1810 they declared independence from Spain and became its own country. Today most people speak spanish. Few people speak the native language to Mexico. Some unique resources that mexico have are cocoa beans, the Jaguar and pyramids made by the Aztecs and Mayans are still there and a major tourist attraction.
Tahiti The largest island on French Polynesia. This is an Island near australia and the unites states. The native people here are Polynesian (south pacific area) Tahitians were isolated until they were discovered by European adventurers in the 1700s. There culture was changed by the Europeans and a lot of their culture was lost. In Tahiti they speak French and some of the older native people may speak Tahitian. In 1880 Tahiti became an official colony of France. They were not granted equal rights until 1946. The French forced them to learn french and speaking Tahitian was a punishable offence. Now people are allowed to speak Tahitian and some older people in Tahiti do. The religion in Tahiti is christian. Most of the people in Tahiti live around the perimeter of the island because the middle of the island is very mountainous and no one can live there. They are famous for their black sand beaches and black pearls.
Hungary Magyars were the first Hungarians. In 1989 hungary formed a parliamentary republic. The language is most similar to the Finnish language. They have heated lakes that is a major tourist attraction. Hungary is not a cold as some other countries that are as far north and have the same latitude. Some architectural landmarks include Buda's medieval castle, and grand neoclassical buildings.
Brazil Language: Portuguese. Sugar cane is a resource in South America and popular in Brazil. Slavery started by european colonist capturing native people and forcing them to work on their sugar cane plantations. Brazil was one of the last counties to get rid of slavery in 1888. A coup took over the country. In Brazil they now have similar democracy to the US. The presidents name is Dilma Rousseff. They have the largest amount of christians in the world. The amazon is in Brazil.
Antarctica Located at the southernmost continent of the south pole. Its first name was Terra Australis that means southern land. Antarctica is a neutral land, meaning no one owns its and no one lives there. It is used for science research, experiments and studies for the earth and stars. Its its own continent. Its the coldest place on earth and some of the temperatures can get to about -130 degrees.
Cambodia Official name is the kingdom of cambodia. Has one of the oldest cities in the world. On november 9th 1953 they declared independence from france. They were not really apart of WW2 but they were greatly affected by it because vietnam soldiers hid in cambodia and then when the US got intelligence that they were in Cambodia they would go and bomb them. But Vietnam had enough time to get out before they were bombed so most of the people killed were just civilians. At the end of the war it was the most bombed country in the world. The Cambodian Genocide was from 1975-1979. Pol Pot was the dictator similar to hitler. He hated western culture. Anyone with a western education was killed. Today there is a constitutional monarchy. Budism is the main religion. Cambodia is a very poor country. The average income is $1,000 a year.
Canada Canada has 10 territories. British Colombia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia. Canada has been inhibited by native americans for thousands of years. There were as many as 15 million people living in CAN around 1500. Canada was colonized by Great Britain and France around the same time as colonies in the US were being established. The French gave up power over canada and then CA became one of the common wealth countries (ruled by the UK) Canada is an Indian word meaning settlement or village.
Guatemala Their history is similar to Mexico's history. Guatemala is apart of what was the Mayan and Spanish Empire. They gained independence from spain in 1821. After that they were finally known as Guatemala. Dictators took over and made a 36 civil war. The war had 200,000 casualties and most of them were Mayan. Now they have constitutional democratic republic. They have population of 14000 people. Guatemalans speak spanish and even some Mayan. Known as the land of the eternal spring.
Sweden Sweden has lots of lakes and forests. Very cold. Was apart of sweden for a while. In 1909 it became a Autonomous grand duchy of the Russian Empire. Finland had a famine that killed 15% of its people and lasted 2 years. They declared their independence from russia and a civil war started. The reds supported by russia and the whites were supported by Germany. There are two languages, Finnish and Swedish. They are apart of the European union.
